About this app
Rope Knots — SurvivalRope is a mobile app that teaches how to tie ropes and knots through 3D animations. You can play, pause, scrub frame by frame with the slider, and change the playback speed, so you can stop at any point and follow along with a real rope in your hands. Knots are grouped by purpose: outdoors, disaster preparedness, fishing, securing loads, rescue, macramé and more.
This page is the support desk for questions about using the app and for reporting problems.

When reporting a problem, including the following helps us track it down faster:
- Your device model and OS version (e.g. iPhone 15 / iOS 26.0, Pixel 8 / Android 16)
- The app version (shown at the bottom of the in-app Settings screen)
- Which knot screen you were on and what you were doing when it happened
Frequently asked questions
The animation does not play, or the screen is blank
Restarting the app usually fixes this. If it persists, try restarting your device, and as a last resort reinstall the app. Note that reinstalling clears your favorites.
I want to see the middle of an animation, or play it more slowly
Drag the slider at the bottom of the playback screen to scrub to any point by hand. The playback speed can be changed with the speed slider on the same screen. Looping can be turned on or off in Settings → Playback.
My favorites disappeared
Favorites are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to a server, so they cannot be restored after you delete the app or switch to a new device.
Can I remove the ads?
There is currently no paid option to remove ads. The app is free to use.
How do I change the display language?
The app follows your device language setting (Japanese, English and Simplified Chinese are supported). Change the language in your device's Settings and the app will follow.
I do not want to send usage analytics
Turn off Settings → Privacy → "Allow usage analytics" in the app, and no further analytics data will be sent. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can you add a knot I need?
Requests are welcome. Email us the name of the knot and what you use it for, and we will consider adding it in a future update.
Which OS versions are supported?
iOS 18 and later, and Android 6.0 (API 23) and later. We primarily verify the app on the two most recent OS versions.
The knots shown in this app may not provide sufficient strength or safety depending on how they are used. For any life-critical purpose such as climbing, rescue or work at height, always rely on proper equipment and instruction from a qualified professional.
